I never had a chance to meet Prof. Rice personally. But his fantastic work he did for allelopathy, and his books he wrote on allelopathy had tremendous effect on my activity and some of my research fellows. His book, especially one published in 1984 for a long time was for us like a bible showing principls of allelopathy. Thank you Professor Rice for all you have done.

The participation of Dr. Elroy L. Rice in the
development of allelopathy science has been
fundamental for the nowadays state-of-the-art of
this science. Dr. Elroy L. Rice was one of the
best professor and scientist I ever know. His
unusual great intellectual capacity, and his
creative scientific discernment, allowed him to
reach that privileged academic status and place
that only a few persons can earn. Besides, his
optimism and his love for science and the search
of truth were an extraordinary example for all
his numerous students and collaborators, and the
guide for our own ways inside science and life.
My condolences to his family.
